The Beach House
at Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka

The Beach House at HikkaduwaThe georgeous Beach House opens on to a pristine palm-fringed beach. The palm-filled garden out front flows on to the golden sands of sweeping Hikkaduwa beach. The beach villa / bungalow makes a perfect, private, self-catering getaway / vacation rental for a family beach holiday or group of surfers looking to surf the world class waves at Hikkaduwa reef. The Beach House is the prefect for place guests to relax in the warm tropical, tranquil environment of Sri Lanka's tropical south coast.

The three-bedroom house is fully furnished, has air-conditioning in all rooms, is serviced daily, sleeps six and is self-catering.

A cook is available on request or you can order home deliveries of delicious Sri Lanka curries and seafood from the small Cinnamon Gardens Hotel next door, if you don't feel like cooking. There are also many restaurants along the main Hikkadua strip to choose from.

All furnishings for The Beach House have been custom-designed and hand-crafted from local hardwoods.

The Location

The Beach House was originally a sturdy old beach cottage which we have renovated. It stood up to the powerful and devastating tsunami which washed right through it on
26 December 2004.

A carpenter from the forests at the foothills of the central highlands has used traditional techniques to hand make all the furniture and wood finishings in Jackwood, Mahogany and Teak.

The Beach House is located down a narrow beach access road off the main Galle Road, which runs from Colombo to Galle. It is situated in the small village of Thiranagama, which, with the small village of Narigama, is now part of the extended little town of Hikkaduwa. From the house it is a five-minute, one dollar tuk-tuk ride to the main Hikkaduwa strip or 10 to 15-minute walk down the beach to the Hikkaduwa reef surf spot, island-style restaurants and beach bars. You can see the surf spots down the beach (some of the best reef breaks in Sri Lanka) from the bottom of the garden.

Next door to The Beach House is the small, quiet, locally run Cinnamon Gardens Hotel with a great restaurant and bar and friendly staff.

The historic town of Galle – with its famous cricket ground and well-preserved, majestic 17th Century Dutch fort – is just 20 minutes’ drive down the coast.
